PURPOSE of the blog & beyond

What defines wellness? NWM explores the many aspects that fall under the wellness umbrella & its outside influences: interrelationships between physical & mental health, movement & fitness, nutrition, social well-being, professional success, and attaining balance among these pillars through behavior change. This blog exists to inspire leading a wellness-rich lifestyle that is equally abundant with enjoyment as it is well-being, inspire a definition of wellness that is realistic, glamorous, & sustainable, and how to make these ideals your everyday reality.

ABOUT & qualifications

My name is Maddy, and I am a health coach and personal trainer. I have my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from McGill University, and I am a Qualified Exercise Professional (QEP) & Certified Personal Trainer with the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP-CPT). I am 22 and living in Toronto. I love the city, sweating, fashion, cooking & baking (particularly Italian & chocolate chip cookies), makeup, podcasts, hip hop & rap, green protein smoothies, espresso martinis, lashes, long nails, black coffee, 2000s TV shows, nights in, nights out, and learning new things.

BACKGROUND & values

Throughout my undergraduate degree, I had the pleasure of working one-on-one with clients in a clinical setting and saw exercise and wellness practices become powerful physical and mental tools to transform a person’s life trajectory. Through what may seem like small changes, I witnessed clients at their lowest point, find confidence and self-efficacy in knowing that they were taking care of the body that would, in turn, take care of them. This experience inspired a whole-body approach to health & training: taking account of not only what we implement in our daily routine, but the way we think, our outlooks, recurring thoughts, and the people we surround ourselves with. The whole picture.

APPROACH to coaching

My past experiences have shaped my approach to health and fitness coaching as I put this experience to practice; designing a program tailored to reach your goals that is sustainable, realistic, and fits into your whole picture, aimed to inspire self-efficacy and build autonomy through frameworks of behavior change. As an extension of this, I hope to expand my reach to anyone that seeks the motivation or push they need to make a healthy change, set balanced priorities, see success as a result of their efforts, and improve their relationship with wellness. Thank you for tuning in xo
